I have a rambunctious group of 23 Kindergarteners this year! Our group is so excited to be in school, most of them for the first time, and to interact with their friends. All of my students have very different needs and I do my best to individualize to them. For some, they need academic support, for others it is social emotional support. All of my students are important and my goal is to create a classroom that supports them all!
My Project
Kindergarteners learn by exploring the world around them with their senses. For many kids, a regular day includes sensory overload and they are not always equipped to handle that on their own. These supplies will help kids find ways to soothe their sensory needs while finding ways to express their emotions. Pompoms, tissue paper, colored paper, etc. can all be used in our sensory center as well as our art center for kids to explore.
Science supports using flexible seating to help children with impulse control.
Movement can help give my students a sensory outlet for their impulse and help them better manage themselves. Wobble stools will help my students with these needs manage themselves better as well as focus longer on tasks.
I thrive to provide a classroom that allows all of my students to succeed. All students need different types of support for best success in the classroom. With these materials, I will be able to provide support to a wider range of students so that everyone can have the best chance at success.
