Help me give my students social and emotional learning supports with materials for our calm down center and a Q-Ball microphone to assist with our speaking during rug time.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have thirty-four Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) students in my classroom. Free breakfast and free lunch are available to every child in our building each day.
My students are creative, clever and very enthusiastic about learning.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in school. My students need to have technology experiences that help foster 21st century critical thinkers. I want all of my students to be able to have the use of technology in our classroom on a daily basis.
My Project
Speaking and literacy skills are key elements to helping SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) students be able to successfully communicate and keep up with their native English speaking peers. A device such as the QBall can also be useful to ALL students in a classroom to help build engagement and confidence.
By using an amplified device such as the QBall, it creates a nonthreatening speaking environment where students can speak in a normal tone and still be heard by everyone in the class.
Please help me with funding our need for sensory tools, noise canceling headphones, liquid bubble timers, sensory putty, and sensory chew necklaces so that we can support all different types of learners so that they can truly learn!
