My students need additional materials such as wobble chairs, vest, gel pad, etc. in order to better serve them for their sensory needs. We have received one set of materials and my co-worker and I would like to build upon what we have!
My students are all being served in a self-contained setting for various disabilities ranging from specific learning disabilities to Autism. My caseload is 10 students, but this year my co-worker and I are splitting responsibilities so that we switch classes halfway through the day. I teach ELA and Social Studies to all 19 students and my co-worker teaches math and science to them all.
Our school is high-poverty, but we do not let that get in our way of keeping expectations very high.
We do have ever-growing needs with an increasing population of students with Autism and are seeking additional supplies to help with sensory needs.
My Project
My co-worker and I are attempting to build up a sufficient stockpile to serve our shared students who have sensory needs. We had an initial sensory project funded and are finding that we need additional supplies in order to serve everyone. They are a greater "hit" than we anticipated, and we would love to be able to have enough supplies to go around.
Our need for sensory materials is increasing at a tremendous rate and these additional supplies would help our students maintain their energy levels and focus so that they can optimize their learning.
Please help us to reach the goal we have for obtaining enough sensory supplies to go around! With more wobble chairs and tactile stimuli(vest, gel pad, headphones, etc.), our students will be at a better advantage in maintaining an atmosphere ripe for learning.
