I have a large group of very diverse inner city children who range from 3-5 years of age. My classroom is located in Jersey City, New Jersey. Most of the children are living below poverty level.
I feel lucky to spend my day teaching them that it is fun to learn new things and to motivate them to keep on learning in everything they do.
I love giving them every opportunity to learn and to introduce new and fun materials and equipment to help them reach their highest potential.
My Project
Sensory exploration is a child's way of examining, discovering, categorizing, and making sense of the world. It is beneficial to provide them with opportunities for sensory play. The sensory tub and materials will have a positive impact on student learning in my classroom.
I always try to find new and fun ways for my students to learn the basics of Prekindergarten.
The children will be able to play along side each other at the sand and water tables. Many of the items I have asked for will help with the sensory issues my special needs children have in my class.
Many students are kinesthetic learners and this project is perfect for them! These children learn best when they can touch and feel the letters and numbers being taught to them. This project will serve many students during math and literacy centers on a daily basis. It will be a lot of fun to watch as they explore and learn together. Keeping students engaged in their learning is key to teaching and I know this will be great.
Incorporating a variety of sensory and STEM materials, makes for a very exciting and fun filled classroom!
