Our students come from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Our school is a title I school, meaning we have 70% of our students who qualify for free and reduce-priced lunch. We have a wide range of needs that our students need, including behavioral, academic, social, and emotional. Our students encourage us to be thankful for the "little" things we forget about day to day, and remind us that we are a safe and consistent presence in their lives!
My Project
This project is assisting students with disabilities to meet their sensory needs during the school day! All of the tools in this project will help our students regulate and process their feelings and emotions. My resource team and I work day in and out to meet the needs of our students, and this project will be a tool for our students in a way that is unique to them - which is what we are teaching them everyday, to accept and be true to themselves!
Some of the tools we added to this project, such as the fidgets, chewies, and gel mazes will be used in our sensory station for students to use when they are coming to our room when they are feeling frustrated or upset.
These tools will be essential for our students to regulate their feelings and emotions, independently!
