My students need multi-sensory items, including manipulative and Wobble cushions, to promote learning with a variety of needs!

As a Second Grade Special Education teacher, I believe each student who receives my services is wonderfully unique and deserves every opportunity to learn! My classroom is structured to fit the individual needs of each of my students. Although I have not met my future students, the students who will be in my Resource Special Education classroom will require a multi-sensory environment with specialized instructional activities to assist with the individual modifications and accommodations needed. Students will use manipulatives, visuals, assistive technologies and more to promote a positive and effective learning experience!
"It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." The students I teach more than anything deserve genuine love and acceptance.
Having any form of disability in itself is not always easy but with a positive mindset, proper resources and continual support, I believe a bright future is in store for each and every student!
Our senses help us to understand the world around us! Using our senses such as sound, sight, touch, smell and taste, help when organizing and processing what is happening in our environment. Students use sensory integration in the classroom each day. The sensory items I have requested for this project will help promote the most effective learning experience for my students!
My second grade students have a variety of needs and each has a unique style of learning that sensory items can positively assist with!
The sensory items I have chosen for my students will help target the different learning styles through appropriate sensory integrated learning. Wobble seats will help with maintaining focus and stability among students with ADHD. The countdown timer will promote a quiet, sufficient way for students to keep track of time during his/her independent work. The manipulative library and sensory dough provide a hands-on experience to learning which stimulates independence and creativity!
