My Students

My students are kindergarten through second graders with moderate to severe disabilities. Although it's always hard to pigeon hole any group of people, my students all love swinging, field trips out into the community, and Pixar movies. They work on individual education goals throughout the school day which vary from washing hands to adding and subtracting.

The students in my class can't access general education curriculum, but that doesn't mean that they can't learn!

They just need additional supports to help them focus and try new things. Many of my kids have sensory needs and these wiggle seats seem like something that could really help!

My Project

After the wildfires in our area, my students have had an even harder time focusing and paying attention, especially towards the end of the school day. These seats will give my students the chance to give themselves some sensory input without leaving their seats!

Rocking and bouncing are popular ways for my students to get themselves ready to learn.

These chairs will allow them to continually receive some vestibular sensory input while continuing their lesson. They can fidget, wiggle, rock, and change the positions of their feet and bodies while still remaining at the table and therefore accessible for educational and social opportunities.
