My students are active and expressive and love hands-on learning. They come to school excited to see what we will be learning and they are eager to explore and ask questions. They bring joy to teaching and keep me on my toes!
Our school is nestled in a very blue collar community where most parents have to work outside the home.
My students love it when learning comes alive and when they are active participants in their learning. It is a blessing to be able to teach students who are inquisitive and excited about learning!
My Project
In my 2nd grade classroom I want to integrate sensory seating through ball chairs, wobble seats and sensory cushions. Students will have these at their group tables and will be able to use these as often as needed throughout the day. These are wonderful items that will help increase student self regulation.
Studies have shown that these types of sensory tools also help decrease disruptive and distractive behaviors.
These tools are a fun way for students to be able to move around without disrupting others in the classroom. This will impact all learners within the classroom by enhancing the learning environment and increasing student academic and behavioral successes across content areas.
