My students need inflatable seat cushions because they help to calm the hyperactive child. These seat cushions provide sensory input, pressure relief, wiggle relief, and improved balance that leads to improved concentration and focus.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach first grade at a public school located on the southeast side of Chicago. All of the students at the school come from low income households and qualify for free lunch.
My class is made up of 24 students, many of whom are diverse learners and received daily in-class support from the Special Education Teacher.
It is my life's mission to inspire my students to try their best in everything they do and to strive to achieve their dreams.
My Project
A major milestone for a 6-7 year-old child is the ability to sit at a desk, follow the teachers instruction, and independently complete in class assignments. Many students in my class are Diverse Learners and countless others struggle with completing assignments due to fidgety-ness, lack of focus, poor attention and concentration.
Overall, my students are easily distracted and have difficulty sitting still.
The selected inflatable seat cushions will provide them with the necessary sensory input to stay focused while seated and provided greater comfort, wiggle relief, pressure relief, and a calming effect while they develop a longer attention span.
