This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are my everything. I love being able to be their first-grade teacher and set foundational skills in place for them to succeed in the years ahead. For nearly half of my students' lives, they have lived in the pandemic. They are resilient, creative, imaginative, loving, and hopeful and intelligent.

My Project

Being able to have a sensory play around peers is incredibly important for the development of young children. With learning at home for nearly half their lives, some students crave sensory play with their peers. While they cannot always share items, they can play around with each other and participate in each other's imagination!

During the school day, the pencils and pencils grips will help motivate my students to do their best on written assignments.

With so much learning having been done on the laptops over the past couple of years, my young students (6-7 years old) need extra love and attention when it comes to writing!

The playdough would serve my students well during indoor recess. The paint would be a great art add-on to a reading or science activity! The wiggle seat would serve my students well in our Safe Place, where students pay attention to their emotions and body. I greatly appreciate your consideration in helping me buy these materials. If not, we would go without, or I would buy over a longer period of time.
