Students at my school are all special in their own way. They are all looking to grow and learn in our diverse school in a suburban setting.
Many of the students in my classroom are students with learning and emotional disabilities.
Some of the students in my classroom have trouble coming to school because of social or anxiety issues.
Our classes serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities.
My Project
My students need a break from their day to relieve some of their sensory issues. We have a sensory room that we have started this year, and we still need some items to add to our room to make it beneficial for all of our students and all of their needs. My learning support students who are on the spectrum love this space that we have and the work production after they are in this room is amazing.
Students learn best after their sensory room break.
My students need sensory balls, headphones that keep out the sound, kinetic sand, a tunnel, and fidget items. The work production from some of my students after visiting the sensory room is amazing and I want to make sure we have plenty of sensory items for the different levels of sensory needs in our school!
