Help me give my students a heavy bag for boxing practice in our 7th and 8th grade sensory room. My students may use the sensory room when they feel like their behavior needs to be regulated.
I teach at a Therapeutic Day School in Saint Paul for students that have emotional-behavioral disorder. My students all have a variety of needs and strengths that bring so much to the table. My students come from different areas in Saint Paul so they can receive the support they need to be successful academically, socially, and emotionally with the goal being, they can successfully go back to their community school with their peers.
My purpose as a classroom teacher is to provide unwavering support and kindness to my students in order to help them acheive the full potential I know they are capable of in a warm and consitant environment.
My Project
We have a limited number books in our building and a bright new media center to fill. The few books on my list were asked for specifically by my students. The students in my classroom eat lunch at 10:40am and by the end of the school day they are all asking for food. The most important thing on my list is the heavy bag. It will be used strategically to help students self-regulate in a positive way.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
