My Students

Dr. Ovaas, a leader in Autism research once said, "If they can't learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn." We have many different types of learners at our school, but our increasing number of Autistic and SPD students struggle. As a teacher it is my concern that these students succeed.

My students come from many different cultural and economic backgrounds, and Autism and SPD have no limits in their reach.

My school is a Title I School, but we have highly motivated learners and teachers throughout. Having these sensory tools and materials would give our Autism and SPD students a chance to learn the same material as their classmates, but in a comfortable learning style that supports them and their education needs.

My Project

With these materials, counting tubes, tactile letters, and twist and turn number builders, our Autistic and SPD students will be able to explore concepts of math and language/literacy skills. They will be able to develop the necessary skills they need to succeed in their Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classrooms. Autism is now the second most commonly diagnosed development disability, and the number of students in my classes with learning disabilities grows each year.

Your donation to this project will help my students struggling with learning disabilities to learn much needed math and language skills.

Kindergarten through Second grade is a very important time in the life of a student. It is the time frame when they learn the basics of a good education as well as the social skills needed to connect with their teachers, classmates, and other students in their school. By funding this project you will be allowing these students to reach their education goals.
