Sensory Path

Help me give my students a sensory path to help get the jitters out throughout the day and help with sensory issues.

My Students

My students are energetic and full of life! They love participating in a variety of activities, such as read-alouds, science experiments, music, and sensory exploration. They are preschoolers!

Some of my students have developmental disabilities including autism, developmental delays, and speech and language delays.

They learn best through playing and interacting with other people. Each student learns in a different manner and deserves to have the best experience possible to prepare him or her for the years of schooling to come.

My Project

The Sensory Path will help students reduce or eliminate sensory-seeking behaviors that keep them from learning all that they can. These behaviors could include getting up from their seat and moving around, bouncing in their chair, bouncing their knees, looking around the room, etc. When those behaviors are reduced or eliminated, students can focus better.

The Sensory Path especially benefits those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADD/ADHD.

However, all students are affected by the need for movement every once in a while. Think of how you feel when you sit in one spot for more than an hour and how fidgety you must get... It gets like that for preschool students after 15 minutes or less. This Sensory Path will help give the students sensory input through a specialized series of movements that have been designed by research-based sensory integration therapy techniques.
