Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a public school that serves children with autism. My students are energetic , and full of curiosity. Some students in my class are verbal while others are non-verbal. My students struggle daily to express themselves and communicate with the world around them. Every day my students work hard to learn and perform daily life skills as well as reach their academic goals. Throughout the day, we work to encourage the students to communicate their wants and needs.
My Project
Students with autism frequently require extra sensory input to self sooth, or manage problem behaviors. All of these materials will provide my students with sensory input ,as well as hands-on learning activities , to help them learn. My students require sensory input throughout the day. These materials will help to incorporate sensory into learning activities during ELA and math. These materials will also help to strengthen my student's fine motor skills. Acquiring and improving fine motor skills , will allow my students to begin to learn early writing skills, as well as complete daily living skills, such as zipping a jacket or tying their shoes.
