This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our classroom is full of amazing, intelligent, diverse preschool children. Our students walk into our classroom every day full of energy, eager to learn and experience! They are all so very different, and we love each and every single one of them and what they bring to our class.
We are a Title I school, and 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch each day.
We are located in an urban school district in Southeastern Virginia. I love teaching this age because often times I am their very first teacher, which means I can, right off the bat, instill a love of learning in these children! They are like sponges, wanting to soak up every piece of knowledge and experience they can! It is amazing to be a part of!
My Project
Sensory table items such as water beads, textile items, kinetic sand, and molding dough, will really allow our students to explore their fine and gross motor skills!
Sensory play supports things like language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
Young children need to use their senses and be engaged in meaningful experiences. A listening center would aid in this as well!
There is a lot of research that show that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which can lead to a child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks.
