My school is located in a borough of New York. My classroom is a K/1/2, 12:1 self-contained special education classroom. They are all super adorable kids.
We are a Title I school, so all children are eligible for free breakfast and free lunch due to being considered in a low-income area.
We have thirty percent English Language Learners (ENL) and seventeen percent students with disabilities. We thank you in advance and appreciate any help you can give us.
My Project
With the recent additions of new students to my classroom, I have found the need for some more sensory tools. Being back to full in person learning, we are adjusting to all sorts of sensory input. Noises can be difficult to adjust to.
Noise cancelling head phones can help tune out unwanted sounds and allow us to focus on the important things we need to hear.
Having a few sets of these will help my students with focusing on the lesson while being able to tune out the unnecessary extra noises. Having more wobble chair top seats will also help us be able to move around when needed without being noticeable or distracting to others. Sometimes we just need some wiggles to help us get some sensory input so we can stay on task. These items will keep us from sensory overload so we can focus on learning everything we need to.
