This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in the inner city of St. Louis. We provide a safe haven for all students. Students have even cried when it's time to go home because they like our school so much. Our school is a diamond in the rough.
Our classroom is truly a reflection of the students learning!
The class consists of students aged 3-5. This creates a very diverse learning environment because I have students who are learning how to read and other students coming into a classroom for the first time and don't recognize the letters in his/her name.
My Project
My students are really struggling with fine motor and sensory development this school year. The play dough items will bring more exploration ideas to the students while providing much needed hand strengthening opportunities.
The easy squeeze scissors will help the younger students create beautiful art work while giving the students autonomy.
The three different sensory items provide learning opportunities for the students to explore. These items are unique because they are washable. Unfortunately, my students this year have not had the opportunity to explore with any sensory items because we are unable to sanitize sand and similar items.
