Help me give my students a few more ball chairs, wobble cushions for their regular seats, and stools to help keep their bodies stable while working (the stool goes under their feet, and supports good posture, and stability).
First grade is a big year! It is the year you learn to read, write, and truly "do school". Academics are the focus of each day, and the children are truly becoming responsible for their own learning. While the kids are becoming accustomed to performing like a student, they are also faced with the challenge of learning what type of learner they are. They have to learn what they need as a learner to be successful. This is hard for a 6/7 year old to do. However; once they become aware of what they need as learners, it is like finding the pot of gold!
Our inclusion first grade classroom consists of 24 adorable, loving, friendly, and motivated learners.
Our students strive to succeed. At times they may need a little something extra to help them be successful. They are each unique and have a variety of needs. This project will help to support some of their specific needs, help make them emotionally ready to learn, and will create a feeling of success while learning.
My Project
Our students are loving, friendly, motivated, and strive to succeed. They are each unique, wonderful, and amazing! However; some of them have a variety of needs including specific learning disabilities, sensory struggles, Focusing difficulties, and ADHD. Recently we did a DonorsChoose.org project for sensory materials. This is part 2 of this project because the ball chairs were such a huge success. Our students would LOVE a few more for the classroom! We also added seat cushions that would provide the same effect as the ball chair. Our students really love these materials and are using them all day long.
Sometimes our students need a little extra support to access their learning, as well as captivate their attention to help them attend to the lesson/task at hand.
These materials have proven to do just that! They can use them at their classroom tables while working, or in our calm down corner (whichever they need at the time to help them be successful).
