Help me give my students sensory materials, such as the tactile sensory pillows, in order to help them calm themselves or explore objects through touch!
Welcome to middle school! My students all have severe multiple disabilities along with orthopedic impairments so they require a lot of care and assistance throughout the day. My class is on a typical middle school campus and so we have lots of opportunities throughout the day for integrating with peers. We also participate in certain elective classes.
Having a significant disability can make navigating middle school a challenge, to say the least!
But every day when I see their smiles and watch them learn new skills I am filled with such wonder and joy; even though the school year is just beginning I am already thrilled to be their teacher!
My Project
I am asking for a variety of sensory games and tactile sensory pillows to help my students who need extra sensory integration in their day. The tactile pillows will go in the reading area to help students who need to calm themselves. The rest of the materials are for exploratory learning and learning through touch.
Sensory materials can help my students regulate themselves and can provide a much needed break from the day!
I am also asking for a build a word game to help my students learn essential pre-reading and reading readiness skills through touch and observation. This game helps students build words with letters and helps to improve matching skills.
