Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a low-income Title I school. 74% of our school population qualifies and participates in free and reduced lunch. My students are part of a unique Dual Immersion Program. This Dual Immersion program offers the opportunity to learn all of the grade-level standards in both Spanish and English. The goal for students in the Dual Immersion Program is to become bilingual and bi-literate by the eighth grade.
Help me create and develop a love of learning for my Kindergarteners.
My Project
My students are developing their social emotional growth while learning two languages and math skills. Many students this year have experienced and are living with trauma. They require sensory objects to aid in soothing them while simultaneously learning. These centers will be used in a variety of ways. Stand alone, the Magic Water Marbles will be used to calm overwhelmed student by touch. The Washable Sensory Beads, Washable Sensory Noodles and Washable Sensory Balls will be used for language arts and math centers. High frequency words, numbers and equations to 5 can be placed in these bins for the students to reach in and find while giving the child an opportunity to touch and feel the sensations of the beads before recording their finds!
