I work with low-income families in a medium-size urban city. These children come from all types of backgrounds, sometimes dealing with difficult situations.
Our children crave fun, interactive manipulatives that they do not typically have the opportunities to experience in their normal daily lives.
I want to tap into every student's potential, including those with special needs. This project is geared towards providing our classroom with unique materials that can greatly enrich and influence the way each of our students learn.
My Project
Young children are attracted to new and exciting toys. The sensory light table is a fun and unique way of teaching children a wide variety of academic skills. For children with special needs, having an assortment of learning tools that support their individual developmental needs is imperative.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
In our classroom, we will use the sensory light table to teach mathematics, literacy, science, and fine motor skills with various light table accessory kits. These kits will allow the children to explore and discover in a hands-on, tangible approach while teaching skills such as counting, sorting, identifying shapes, examining x-rays, and more.
