My students need sensory items to help them stay calm and focused in the classroom.

My Students

Students attend our school due to extreme behavior, which makes it difficult for them to attend their home base school. Students struggle regulating their own emotions and need to be taught appropriate techniques how to handle their emotions.

The majority of our students have faced some kind of traumatic event in their young lives that results in some of the behaviors.

As a class, we work with behavior interventions to help students be able to transition back to their home base school with supports in place.

My Project

These items will be used in the classroom to help maintain a calm classroom for sensory learners. Many of my students cannot handle loud noise and so they need the noise canceling headphones in order to be successful in the class. Right now I only have one pair in my class and it is very difficult when more than one student needs them throughout the day. The light covers will be used in the classroom to help soften the fluorescent light.

When the classroom is a calm environment that is when my students are most successful.

In order for my students to be successful we need noise canceling headphones to drown out noise and distractions in the class as well softer lighting to make it feel calm.
