My Students

Our class consists of all preschool students (3-5 yrs old) with special needs. Some of the disabilities in our classroom include: Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and a variety of other physical and cognitive delays.

Our students are so adorable and work so hard to make progress on their goals!

At the beginning of last year, one of our students couldn't walk without assistance from a teacher. He worked really hard with his parents, teachers, and physical therapists and by the end of the year was walking on his own. We were so proud of him!

That is just one example of the many successes we see each year in our classroom.

My Project

These sensory items will help my students learn about and deal with their emotions. All of the students in my classroom have special needs, such as autism. Sensory items like the comfort pillow and the wiggle seat really help them cope when emotions are running high or if they are simply having a hard time sitting still. There are also some fidget toys for students to hold and squeeze for comfort. These also have faces on them so we can talk about the different emotions. I have also requested a laminator for the classroom since ours broke and our budget hasn’t yet allowed for a new one.
