My students need some sensory integration supplies to enhance their daily sensory work.
This project expired on September 12, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
It's play time! Play is essential to the learning process.
Our class is a lively, energetic bunch of kindergarten students, first graders, and second graders all with individual special needs.
From high functioning Autism to confined to a wheelchair and everything in between we are a close knit classroom of caring teachers and students that love to learn and play together.
We have been trying to get a sensory table to use daily in our classroom but the funding is not there yet. We have decided that there are many other containers that can be used for sensory learning so we need some sand to get started. Sand in a sensory bucket with other supplies, provides opportunities to seek and find, match, review words or colors, learn to handle different textures and so much more! These are vital skills for our class. The mirror will be used for our students with limited mobility so they will be able to see more of the classroom activities going on even if they can't participate fully in them. Mirrors will give our students immediate feedback on their movements and help them learn how to recognize emotions too.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge." Albert Einstein.
I try every day to provide activities that encourage imagination in these special children's minds. We all have the ability to learn, I have the duty to provide imaginative ways for learning to happen.
