Our school, though it may be tiny, is a very creative and inventive place for students to grow, learn and succeed. We have a high percentage of students who aren't given the same financial privilege as others. We also have a substantial number of students who have struggles outside of academics. Out of the box thinking and a safe place for all student needs to be met is essential. I believe in doing all I can to eliminate outside factors so that all my students share the same opportunity to learn. I promote learning while enhancing and shaping character along the way.
My Project
The items contained in this project like the swing, bouncy bands and fidget toys will allow a child to meet their vestibular needs and find the motion they are so in need of. The other items like the sand, crash pad and weighted balls will help so many children to regulate their sensory needs.
Sensory issues impact so many students.
If a student's senses are out of alignment, nothing a teacher teaches can be received by a student.
Sensory issues are so commonly confused with a child just acting up. In reality, it is the senses within a child that aren't being regulated that are the root of the problem. Adults have the ability to self-regulate, children need the help of resources to do so.
