Sensory Input for SUCCESS!

Help me give my students access to needed sensory resources like adhesive and vinyl for visual displays, and cushions and headphones for individual needs.

My Students

My students receive special education services for a variety of disabilities and difficulty areas. They may have learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, be on the autism spectrum, or have an emotional behavioral disability.

My students come to school every day with an enthusiastic attitude and an eagerness to learn and make progress, while working through their individual struggles.

They deserve access to sensory resources and equipment to help them reach their potential and find success at school.

Oftentimes, these students need sensory breaks during the school day. This sensory break (or a brain break) is a time away from seated learning activities. The student can gain the sensory input they need in their bodies to stay alert, on task, and focused in their academic work. The opportunity to move their bodies and gain sensory input decreases the frequency and intensity of behavioral meltdowns during the school day and increases the amount of time on-task with academics.

My Project

This project provides students receiving special education services with equipment and resources to be better prepared to learn.

Students with special needs must have their sensory needs met before they can be successful academically and behaviorally!

The seat cushions provide sensory input and allow for movement while working on reading and math at the tables. The headphones cancel loud or overwhelming noise to allow students to better focus and remain calm. The vinyl adhesive and transfer paper allow the teachers to create a sensory walking path for students to get a movement break and the sensory input their bodies and brains need. The other educational activities and supplies are for helping the students with math and reading skill deficits, once their sensory needs are met!
