Sensory Input a Day Helps Keep the Attention Today
My students need sensory supports like dough, foam paint, sensory sand, blocks, and putty that can be made available to them throughout the day to help facilitate attention and awareness.
I am a new mod/severe SDC teacher. My classroom is unique in that every student learns differently. My students all have different sensory input needs with social deficits that impact their socialization with their peers. We use a wide variety of technology in our classroom to support their unique learning styles.
"Every child has a different learning style and pace.
Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding." -Robert John Meehan
"If a child cannot learn the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn." -Ivar Lovaas
My Project
I am requesting sensory items to help my students with their different sensory processing needs. The Mad Mattr sensory dough, theraputty and kinetic sand will all allow for my students to have tactile sensory input. The magnetic blocks and foam sensory paint will also provide tactile sensory input but also visual sensory input. The theraputty also allows for my students to strengthen their hand strength to sharpen both their gross and fine motor skills. The sensory bags and sensory balls can be used for students who need fidget items to support both sensory and behavior needs. All these items will be used daily to help support my student's sensory input needs.
