My students live and attend school in a rural Ohio town.
Our community is small, but it has always been very supportive of the students and our school.
One of our goals, as educators, is to provide students with effective learning environments that will help facilitate student growth in all academic areas.
The students are always eager to work on projects, especially those that involve technology. Providing activities that are different than what might be expected in a general classroom is a goal of mine.
My Project
When considering sensory-related classroom tasks, sixth-grade is not usually a grade level that comes to mind. However, sixth-grade students are still able to benefit from having access to items that allow them to get out their fidgets, build, and listen.
The sensory dough, headphones, and bouncy bands will allow my students to have a more immersive language arts experience.
Students need a way to release energy in class in order to help them be productive. Bouncy bands are a way to release this energy without distracting others. Activities that allow students to manipulate materials with their hands or to listen to music or stories are also much more engaging.
