This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 4 and 5 year old preschoolers. Over half of the students come from low income households and are not exposed to adequate learning materials before they enter school. It is my desire that they have most, if not all, of the learning materials necessary to begin their educational journey.
Water and sand play give children opportunities to develop social skills when they are working with other children or as a whole group.
Students are enhancing their physical, cognitive and social skills through sensory play, while improving their physical dexterity as well as hand-eye coordination. Water play also releases energy for young children and can also be used to relax and calm students.
My Project
The water and sand table will be used for fun and learning. Students will enjoy playing, but at the same time developing various skills. Student are introduced to such great experiences while playing in water and sand. They are exposed to textures and temperatures. They are using problem solving skills while making different discoveries about the materials they are using.
Water and sand play gives students many opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills across all age ranges.
Children increase their small motor skills and hand eye coordination through actions such as pouring, squirting, scrubbing and squeezing. This water and sand table will prove to be hours of stimulating fun for my students.
