My students are adorable 2, 3, and 4-year-old special education children. My classroom contains a range of disabilities including vision, hearing loss, Downs syndrome, and autism. Most come from low-income homes and all of my students have a communication delay and special education plan. They love being at school and adore interacting with manipulative and sensory materials. We are proud to be a Delaware Star 5 star facility and provide a high quality of instruction, but funding limits our access to resources. These children are starved for hands-on activities to help them learn.
My Project
Help me provide my students with different sensory fillers and materials. With new learners it is important to introuce new sensory experiences and feels. Kinetic sand, kidfetti, and washable sensory fillers will add new fine motor experiences to our water table.
Students will be able to roll, cut, and mold the kinetic sand, and floam.
They will be able to pour, scoop, and mix the sensory noodles and balls. This will provide a calming outlet for my special needs students and a way to relieve stress. This will provide many sensory experiences and outlets for my preschoolers. . All of my students have a communication delay as well as other special needs. My classroom has a range of disabilities: vision, hearing loss, down syndrome, and autism. These students need hands on activities to learn and provide the early interventions that make them ready for kindergarten.
With limited resources and experiences at home I love providing my students with new and engaging activities in the classroom.
