Sensory Friendly Reading Corner

Help me give my students a reading corner that meets their sensory needs. This includes a sensory lamp to give my students a break from bright overhead fluorescents, their favorite books, and flexible seating.

My Project

My classroom is a Special Day Class. Many of my students are on the autism spectrum. I will be using these materials to meet ehir sensory needs while encouraging their enthusiasm for books and reading.

This project includes some flexible seating, some sensory friendly lighting, and their favorite books for them to enjoy exploring reading in a comfortable and relaxing space.

Students with autism often need extra help to self-regulate, and the option to decompress in a sensory friendly reading corner helps to frame books as both comforting and special.
