In our classroom we incorporate brain breaks between lessons, however, there is still a lot of time the second graders are expected to sit at desks and work. Reading and Writing Workshops require that students are actively working at their desks for extended periods of time.
My classroom is full of 27 sweet students (13 boys and 14 girls).
The school is a Title I school, which means a significant portion of the students receive a free or reduced priced lunch. Many students are at school by choice and have opted to attend our school.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help our wiggly second graders stay on task during those long periods of work time. The materials I am requesting are seat cushions and numerous fidgets. These items will help our students move their bodies and hands, while still actively engaging their brains. Due to the how long students are expected to sit at their desks, the cushions will allow them to move about while still being in their own space. During lessons many students require fidgets in their hands, these allow students to listen and participate in the lesson at the same time. It is for all of the reasons and more, that I am requesting these materials! I am hoping you will help our sweet second graders learn!
