My classroom this year consists of 4 toddlers with a classification of autism. They attend school 5 days a week in a half day program. During the school day, we work on teaching new skills in the areas of self-help, cognition, social, and play. My students did not receive services in the school setting prior to this year. They have been exploring their environment and learning to follow routines for the first time. Early intervention is imperative to the progress of these children. Please consider donating to my classroom project. The materials in this project will help me to provide the best instruction for our youngest learners. Thank you!
My Project
Fine and gross motor delays in children with autism are common and it is important to address these delays during early intervention to help close the gap for these students. This project will provide me the tools to aide in improving the fine and gross motor skills of my toddlers with autism.
We will be using the See-Inside Acitivity Balls to practice catching, throwing and rolling balls.
The fun items inside will help to motivate the students to participate. We will be using the JumpOff Jo Rocksteady Balance Builder Set for Kids in the classroom to provide students the opportunity to practice balance when transitioning from one activity to another.
The wiggle seat and bouncing chair will help students to remain seated during fine motor task such as building with the wooden blocks, the interlocking magnet blocks, the Innybox, and the Snap-N-Learn matching dinosaurs. The handing tent is another great space for the students to work with fine motor activities. The students in my classroom really enjoy swinging. The HearthSong Woodland Hugglepod Hangout Hanging Play Tent Special with Crescent Stand is a safe way to have the students get some sensory input through swinging while also working on the difficult task of fine motor activities.
