My students come to my classroom from all walks of life. Some have been to preschool while others have not. Some have mastered their basic letters and sounds while others have only mastered a few.
My students come so eager to learn.
They are like little sponges when I teach them.
Often times, I try new ways to teach them the basics using new materials or objects. They especially love hands-on learning. It warms my teacher heart to hear them say "This is the best day ever."
I am constantly looking for new ways to help find the magic in learning.
I have noticed that many of my students need more sensory breaks throughout the day to be successful.
My Project
Throughout the day, my kindergarten students need sensory breaks. They are not quite ready to sit and work for a long time period. I try to incorporate movement activities and dancing during our instructional time. Often they will need individual breaks to help them be successful.
Creating a sensory area in my classroom will allow all students the opportunity to take those much-needed breaks throughout the day.
Each year I see more students that need these breaks. I have a few items that they love like a glitter jar and rice bucket. I want to expand this area to have more options for those students.
