My Project

My students thrive on hands-on, tactile, fine motor activities that strengthen their hand muscles and improve their hand-eye coordination. They find sensory activities incredibly thrilling and enjoy learning through their sense of touch.

A sensory table in the classroom would allow my students to engage in multiple tactile experiences throughout the year while interacting with each other and practicing their literacy skills.

Sensory tables are a great way to practice the alphabet by searching for objects and letters hidden in the sand or sensory material. My students have done this with individual bins and it is a favorite literacy activity among them. Having a full-sized table for these activities would allow multiple children to work with the materials at the same time and interact with each other while doing so. Participation, collaboration, and taking turns are huge skills we practice in kindergarten and this would give them a great opportunity to practice their skills.
