My Students

My students are curious little 3-5 year olds in an Early Childhood Special Education Program. For many students this is their first exposure to a school or group setting. The students in my classroom have been identified as having a disability and for some English is not the first language spoken at home. In many instances they need additional tools to motivate them to take turns, learn, or transition within the classroom and building. I am working to build ready to learn and social skills for my students to create a strong foundation for their education.

My Project

I would like to create a sensory area for my students to have available in our classroom. I have started gathering materials and we need some fun items. I would like to have a busy table for them to manipulative. It can be very calming. I also have students that would benefit from touch and different textures. I would like a touch and feel match board. We have been working on matching and this is a way to carry over matching into activities or areas in the classroom. This area is for students who need a sensory break or calm down area.
