Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of energy, hope, love, curiosity, and excitement. My classroom is a safe place for students to express concerns, take a break, and learn strategies to work through challenging moments.
I love their eagerness to serve others.
Students come in seeking help and, in return, will start helping others.
I love when they worked through a challenge and say, “I put my bravery in front!” or encourage others students who are upset to, “Smell the cake and blow out the candles.” It fills my heart when they use a strategy, and it works!
My Project
Research shows that connecting our mind and body is vital to regulate our emotions. The yoga mats will allow students to practice mindfulness moves to work through hard to have feelings. We are so inundated with technology that our connection to our self is suffering.
Movement and play is essential for children to learn.
To help regulate a child, movement on a trampoline is effective, especially for those who have their recesses removed. We need to get moving! This creates the space for children to be open to receive instruction after their wiggles are out. And, sometimes, jumping is just simply fun!
