At our Title I school with students who come from low-income or high-poverty homes, students are faced with challenges in and outside of the classroom. All of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. Sometimes these meals are all that they may get for the day. Some of the students who come to my classroom face homelessness, live in shelters, motels, or are living with family members or friends.
Many students come to my classroom for extra help and support with their academic and social learning.
My classroom is specially structured to meet their needs. We strive to provide a full educational experience for all students, incorporating social skills, community skills, and functional skills into our daily routines.
My Project
Wiggle, wobble. Wiggle, wobble! There are so many active students that are in my classroom during the day. Some students are seeking sensory input, some are seeking a little movement break and some are seeking to keep their fingers moving! With so many different needs in my classroom, I want to make sure that I can meet as many as I possibly can!
We need sensory fidgets and supports to have in our classroom!
My classroom would greatly benefit from having chair bands on their seats so they can kick away and learn! We also need wiggle cushions to help us wiggle and learn too! Squish balls, sensory fidgets, stress balls and lap weights will help students with a need for sensory input.
