This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to have them appreciate themselves and each other. My students have been dismissed as not being able to learn by others, and it's crucial to let them know that they are capable of learning and succeeding.
Every week I see all 500+ students in the school for art.
We work hard to create, and we need some extra support this year. Our budget got messed up, and the money we expected for the art room this year isn't coming. We're asking for a little bit of extra help.
My Project
My students need some extra sensory stimulation in the art room. Most of my students have special needs, and function better with fidgets to play with while they listen, and super sensory art materials to work with.
Big, easy to hold, and bright art supplies keep my students learning at their best in class.
Plus, the artwork comes out amazing with bright crayons and paint sticks.
My students also need sensory fidgets to keep their hands busy while we read books or talk about art. They focus so much better when their hands are busy, and are more attentive to art.
