My Students

My students are from a rural, low-income/high poverty school district. Some families are classified as migrant/homeless status. My class consists of students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade. Our student population is very diverse. My students are bright, inquisitive, and enjoy hands-on activities. These students are growing and learning in an environment that is embracing new technology and strategies. They are part of a small, tightly knit community where teachers and parents work together to achieve success for their students. My students deserve the best that we can give them.

My Project

My project includes items that will be used for sensory and communication during speech therapy sessions. Sensory beads and rings soothe and engage students during therapy sessions to improve overall attention and participation on targeted communication goals. The light table sensory tray will provide stimulating and eye-catching activities to incorporate targeted communication tasks with sensory activities to help my students maintain motivation to complete those tasks that are frustrating and difficult for them. We like to play while we learn and improve our articulation, language, pragmatic and social skills. Therapy works best when it is fun, engaging and goal oriented for all of my students. Let the learning begin!
