Many of my students come to school from diverse backgrounds and have special needs. They love new materials and exploring the world around them. The majority of my students are English language learners and come from low-income families. These families have limited access to materials in print at home and quality, educational materials.
I am a special education teacher in an urban preschool and I am collaborating with a general education teacher in my school.
In our township, 78% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
My Project
These materials will help our students create and keep their innate love of learning. Engaging my preschool students in quality physical science experiences and engineering at an early age will provide them with more career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) later on in life. My students will use these materials to learn about the physical world as well as connect it to other content areas. They will use cognitive, speech and language, and fine motor skills to accomplish these tasks. This is all done as they interact with their friends and enjoy work time. These materials can constantly be integrated into various lessons and connect their use to other lessons and content areas.
