The students in my classroom are in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade. They have a range of disabilities, which I view as making our classroom that much more fun! I also service students in the general education classrooms that need extra support. All of these students are no different than any other kids- they have unique needs that require some supplemental materials to make them successful in the classroom.

I truly believe in every single one of my students. I wake up everyday of the week asking myself if I would want to be a student in my classroom. My goal is to make every single one of my students feel safe and successful. By having these materials, I hope to achieve my goal.
My Project
My students will use the stability cushions and bouncy bands to get the wiggles out while working. Students sit on the stability cushions in their desk or on the carpet, which provides their bodies with sensory input that it needs. This can calm students sensory system, which helps them focus more. The bouncy bands will go around my student's desk so they can push it with their feet to either receive sensory input, or keep their feet busy in an appropriate way while working. Research shows that concentration will increase if students can move around while working. I want to provide a classroom that gives my students opportunities to work while being able to move around. We will also be doubling our physical education time. We will use the rings in various p.e. activities. Students who are sensitive to noise can use the headphones to block out loud noises (i.e. a fire drill).
My students will use the stamps and dot markers to actively engage in hands on centers during group work.
My students will use the stamp pads and alphabet stamps to help learn the alphabet, alphabet sounds, and sight words. They will use the dot markers in math groups, with counting activities. We will use the timer so that student's can see when an activity ends, enabling them to use their time wisely and/or prepare themselves for transitions.
