My Students

What makes my students special is that they are so excited and eager to learn. I have twenty-one five and six year olds! The school I teach at is a Title 1 school and about 60% free and reduced-price lunch. We have a very tight budget and I have bought most of the things in my classroom with my personal money. I have had students every year that have been homeless and this year I have a couple of students who are homeless or in transition.

When students are so excited and eager it is the perfect time to start encouraging them to love learning.

With this project, I am able to create a sensory hallway for all students in the building to use. It will include academic content and also fine and gross motor skills!

My Project

The materials that I have requested for my project are what I will be using to put in our hallway at school! I will be designing it on my computer and using my Cricut machine to cut the vinyl for the hallway!

This project will allow all students in our school the opportunity to take sensory breaks to get themselves refreshed and ready to go for learning along with practicing self calming techniques and review of academics!

In the sensory hallway it will be an outdoor theme so some of the vinyl will be cut into frogs and lily pads and they will jump with all fours to each lily pad and frog. There will also be rocks they have to jump to that will have the letters of the alphabet on it. On the wall there will be stars in which they have to practice crossing the midline on. Next, there will be a tree in which they have to do the yoga pose and take deep breaths. Also included will be a flower in which the leaves on the stem will have numbers 1-10 which will be in a hopscotch form. There will be more included also and I cannot wait to show the finished project!

Any student at any point in the day with permission from their teachers will have access to this path!
