My caseload consists of one PreK, one Kinder, and several 4th and 5th grade Special Education Inclusion / Resource Support. In which my students are struggling with their distance learning classes since I am not there to give them person to person support. We are all learning how to best support them with online learning.
My students need sensory materials, which would allow them to calm their bodies and be successful in learning. The items include playfoam, kinetic sand, motion bubbler, expandable balls and light projectors will help all of them with their sensory self-regulation when it comes to behaviors. My students need to use their senses to be engaged in learning activities.
Sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks.
Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
