I teach ELA and math to 6th grade 15:1 students. The students in my class have a mixture of learning disabilities or other health impairments that impact their ability to learn. Additionally, I work on a team with two general education teachers and push-in to their classrooms for science and social studies in order to support all students on the team in these subjects.
I provide students with opportunities to learn in a flexible, supportive environment where they are engaged, encouraged, and valued.
My Project
My students need access to sensory materials to help them self-regulate when necessary. The Flex-Space Wobble Cushions will give them quick access to two materials while sitting. The Sensory Ball Set will give them different textures to hold in their hand while participating in instruction. The Mad Mattr Sensory Dough will give them something to manipulate when they need to do something a little more strenuous. My ASD students in particular will benefit from Washable Sensory Materials and Bins when they need to take a calming break away from instruction. Finally, the Hear Myself Sound Phones will allow my students to practice fluency and self-check their own writing without distracting other students.
Self-regulation is important for my students in order to maximize their learning potential.
These various materials will help them become better, well-rounded students!
