I am the counselor at an elementary school in Utah. I absolutely adore my kids. They come from such diverse homes and encounter different types of diversity each and every day. The best part of my job is building relationships with them. Research shows that teachers/counselors who build positive relationships with all their students make a significant contribution to their success in and out of school.
I am an advocate for whatever they are going through, in the home and here at school.
If they are not okay at home, then we may need to help them once they get to school to manage the issues at home so they can be successful in the classroom.
I advocate for students' academic and social achievements.
This project will help me give students the books and tools that they may need as they grow older. In addition, my students had some of their learning cut short due to COVID-19 in 2020. As a result of this, I see a deficit in their SEL proficiency.
My students are amazing because although they face many difficult trials; they are full of hope, resilience, and perseverance. They understand that they still have the choice to be the best student they can be and great friends.
