Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a culturally diverse, pre-kindergarten program. In my classroom, I am responsible for eighteen students who all love to sing, dance, be creative, learn and most of all, have a good time! They love to explore and fully experience the curriculum through a hands-on approach to learning. Each year, my students come in with a desire and willingness to learn. True to many classrooms everywhere, all of my students are unique and come with their own strengths and weaknesses.
I go above and beyond to make sure that my students understand how important they are and the importance of being in charge of their learning.
In order to provide my students with an environment that allows them to be in charge of their learning, they need the necessary tools and supports along the way.
My Project
Sensory exploration in the classroom plays an important role in early childhood development. Many of my students rely on wide variety of sensory tools to help them to focus and self regulate their emotions. These objects include sensory tubes, gel-bead bags, and Theraputty.
When my students begin to feel anxious, nervous, scared, or just need a break, they know that they have a safe space to go to, in the classroom, and tools to help them calm their bodies.
Over the years, these tools have become worn and updated materials are needed. Your donation will go towards new sensory/tactile experiences that are popular in early childhood classrooms.
