I teach in a K-8 elementary school in South Philadelphia.
Although we are a stone's throw away from the sports stadiums for our professional teams, our school is in a high poverty area.
We are a Title I school where 100% of our students are eligible for free lunch. Our neighborhood is also very diverse. We are represented by many nationalities, including Nepali, Chinese, Cambodian, Pakistani, and Mexican. Our school ranks very well compared to others in our school district.
My Project
Keeping students motivated to learn can sometimes be difficult, especially if they do not have the supplies they need to complete activities.
Students are sometimes unable to purchase the necessary supplies to help them succeed in school.
With your generous donations, my students will not have to worry if they have a pencil or if they run out of glue. The markers and crayons will be given directly to students who don't have them, as well as supply our classroom for group activities. We will complete various assignments using the construction paper. Since I teach math, the Wiki Sticks will be used to create angles and lines, giving the students a different hands-on approach to topics that are sometimes difficult to understand.
