Help me give my students a fun, exciting tactile experience that so many kids are lacking in our techy world. These bins will create a hands on experience that will awaken their senses.
Kindergarten is such an exciting grade to teach! My students come to me with a mixed variety of skills and life experiences. Some students will come to kindergarten knowing how to write their name, how to count, all the letters and some may even know how to read. Others will come in with little to no experience with any of those things. Kindergarten students grow so much in the short nine months they are school and I want to give my students as many exciting opportunities I possibly can!
My Project
Sensory bins are a fun and engaging way to help students learn while awakening their senses. In this techy world we live in, kids are lacking basic fine motor skills. Sensory bins help children explore different materials and textures while engaging fine motor skills - and they will have a ton of fun in the process. Sensory bins can be very soothing and calming for students and can meet the varied educational needs of all of my students.
The different textures such as sensory balls, sensory noodles and sensory beads will the the base for these sensory bins.
I can laminate word or alphabet cards for the students to explore in the sensory bins. The options are endless. Once boring sight word cards become new and exciting when placed in a bin of beads or balls.
Kinesthetic sand will offer students the opportunity to dig and explore while working in their hand muscles and fine motor skills. Mixing alphabet tiles with kinesthetic sand will create a whole new learning experience.
